Gulf Stevedoring Contracting Company’s Jubail Value Proposition Event to Showcase Innovative Operational Solutions
- Port operator to highlight new business opportunities at Jubail Container Terminal
- Terminal sees 26 per cent throughput increase in 2017
Gulf Stevedoring Contracting Company (GSCCO), part of the Gulftainer group of companies, will explore the investment outlook in Jubail and highlight the city’s rising importance as an import and export destination at its upcoming Jubail Value Proposition event.
Set to take place at the InterContinental Al Jubail on 15 January 2018, the event will convene key government stakeholders and maritime industry professionals in Saudi Arabia. A series of interactive presentations and discussions will provide an overview of GSCCO’s achievements in Jubail as well as the innovative operational solutions it offers at the Jubail Commercial Port (JCP).
Ranked the fastest-growing port in the Middle East in 2017, JCP is home to some of GSCCO’s flagship facilities, including the Jubail Container Terminal (JCT), that contributes significantly to the region’s economic activity and offers an attractive value proposition for industrial entities in the region. JCP serves as an ideal destination for Saudi exports and for the import of industrial equipment. With the fastest customs clearance processes in Saudi Arabia, JCP is currently a port of call for more than 10 shipping lines with direct weekly services.
Speaking on the significance of the Jubail Value Proposition event, Richard James, Managing Director of GSCCO, said: “This definitive event seeks to encourage new ways of doing business in Jubail and reinforce the city’s status as a leading industrial and commercial hub. It offers a unique platform for identifying new business opportunities that can help accelerate economic growth in Saudi Arabia, as well as for sharing best practices in innovation in the maritime sector. We look forward to hosting the event and building synergies with key industry stakeholders.”
Jubail’s strategic location on the Arabian Gulf has enabled the city to evolve into a gateway for international trade. With the city’s petrochemical plants now in full production, Jubail’s ports are experiencing a steady surge in activity. In 2017, Jubail’s import volumes grew by 83 per cent, and JCT alone witnessed a staggering 26 per cent hike in throughput.
