Gulftainer wins Sharjah Economic Excellence Gold Award in Trade Sector Category (large organisations)

Sharjah-based international ports management company Gulftainer Co.Ltd has been awarded the Sharjah Economic Excellence Gold Award in the Trade Sector Category for large organisations.The Award was presented at a ceremony held by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry on 1 June 2011,under the patronage of HH Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qassimi,Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
This is the second time that Gulftainer has received the Sharjah Economic Excellence Award in the Trade Sector Category for large size organisations in the past few years,having received the same award in 2008.The Group's Khorfakkan Container Terminal was also named 'Shipping Port of the Year' last month at the 2011 ITP Business Annual Supply Chain and Transport Awards (SCATA 2011) in Dubai.
In accepting the award,Peter Richards,Gulftainer Group Managing Director,said,"It is a great honour to be recognised for our efforts in this way,and we are particularly thankful to the Sharjah Government,the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry,and the Sharjah Port Authority for their support,which is vital to the continued growth of our various activities.I would also like to thank our entire staff for their efforts and dedicated teamwork,without which the successes we have achieved would not be possible."

The Sharjah Economic Excellence Awards are one of the most prominent awards in the UAE's business and economic sectors,and are the most prestigious awards in Sharjah.The Awards were initiated by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry in a bid to recognise outstanding achievement in corporate governance,business ethics,quality standards,corporate social responsibility and environmentally friendly operations.Additionally they aim to help establishments improve sustainable development by providing facilitation,launching new projects and initiatives,motivating businesses to continue their success,and recognising distinguished performance,as well as laying suitable plans for achieving more in the long term.
Awards-based on assessments by a panel of judges - were presented to organisations that have excelled in four main categories in the last year,allowing for recognition of small or medium enterprises as well as large organisations in each category.The judges' decisions were based primarily on the model of business management employed by entrants,with a particular focus on the leadership and corporate values of the organisation.
